Are you passionate about helping young people take their first steps into the world of work? Do you thrive on building relationships, creating opportunities, and making a real difference every single day? If so, our Foundation Learning team would love to meet you.

At Newbury College, we believe in Careers, not Courses. As our new Work Experience Co‑ordinator, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the futures of learners with a wide range of needs—supporting them to grow in confidence, develop employability skills, and access meaningful, life‑changing work placements.

What you’ll be doing:

• Sourcing, setting up and maintaining high‑quality work experience opportunities, from short work trials to longer industrial placements and supported apprenticeships.

• Working closely with employers, parents, carers and support agencies to ensure every learner receives the right guidance and in‑work coaching.

• Supporting employability learning in the classroom and helping students apply those skills in real workplace settings.

• Carrying out risk assessments and Health & Safety checks, ensuring placements meet college standards and safeguarding expectations.

• Using vocational profiling and ongoing assessments to tailor support to each learner’s needs, including those with EHCPs.

• Helping learners develop independence through travel training and workplace coaching.

• Collaborating with tutors, support coaches and careers staff to help students understand their progression options and make informed choices.

• Maintaining accurate employer and learner records across our systems to support audit requirements.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • 💡 Enthusiastic, adaptable and able to think on their feet.
  • 🗣️ Confident communicating with a wide range of people — from learners and families to employers and external agencies.
  • 🎯 Skilled at motivating young people, managing challenging behaviour and modelling professional workplace expectations.
  • 📚 Organised, proactive and committed to equal opportunities and inclusive practice.

You’ll need:

• Level 2 English and Maths

• Experience working with young people or adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities

• A full clean driving licence and business insurance

• Strong communication, coaching and organisational skills
