School Engagement Officer

Hours: 20 Hours per week / 36 Weeks per year

Working pattern: 5 hours over 4 Days 

Salary: £10,866 Actual / £25,425 FTE 

Are you passionate about inspiring young people and helping them make confident decisions about their future? Do you enjoy building relationships, delivering engaging presentations, and working in a dynamic, people‑focused environment?

We are looking for a School Engagement Officer to join our Marketing team and play a key role in promoting Newbury College to local schools and the wider community. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic, organised, and confident working with young people.

As our School Engagement Officer, you will:

• Identify, plan and deliver a range of outreach activities in local schools, including assemblies, careers fairs, workshops, taster sessions and campus tours.

• Proactively contact schools to drive interest and generate engagement opportunities.

• Build strong, positive relationships with key school contacts such as Heads of Year and Careers Leads.

• Maintain accurate records of school engagement activity and support regular communication with schools.

• Support the planning and delivery of open events, taster days and on‑campus workshops.

• Prepare and distribute event materials and resources for internal and external events.

• Work with curriculum teams to capture student case studies and success stories.

• Act as a friendly, professional ambassador for Newbury College and UCN within the community.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a busy environment, and wants to make a real difference to young people exploring their post‑16 options.

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Friendly, approachable and confident when speaking to groups of young people.

• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.

• A strong communicator who enjoys building relationships.

• Proactive, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.

• Comfortable using Microsoft 365, especially PowerPoint and Excel.

Essential Requirements

• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent), or willingness to achieve this.

• Full UK driving licence or ability to travel independently to local schools.

• Experience in a customer‑facing role or working with young people.

• Experience in administration or communications.
