We are excited to offer an opportunity for a knowledgeable, industry-focused and inspiring Building Services Engineering Tutor & Development Coach to join our Construction team at Newbury College.
About the role:
As a Building Services Engineering Tutor & Development Coach, you will deliver high-quality teaching, training and assessment across a range of Building Services Engineering programmes, including apprenticeships and higher technical qualifications. You will support learners in developing the technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours required for successful careers within the industry, ensuring they are prepared for both employment and further study. The role includes teaching specialist topics such as Building Engineering Systems and HVAC principles, creating engaging learning resources, monitoring learner progress and supporting apprentices through workplace learning and End Point Assessment preparation.
Working closely with employers and industry partners, you will help shape and deliver a curriculum that reflects current and emerging sector practices, including sustainability, smart buildings and modern engineering technologies. Alongside teaching, you will conduct apprentice reviews, workplace assessments and technical discussions, helping learners apply their knowledge in real-world environments. You will also contribute to curriculum development, employer engagement and partnership activities, ensuring programmes remain relevant, innovative and aligned to the needs of employers and the wider Building Services Engineering sector.

Criteria:
Essential criteria:
• Interest in electrical engineering, construction or building services
• GCSE Grade 4 or above in Maths and English (or equivalent)
• Good problem-solving and practical skills
• Willingness to learn and work both independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to completing a substantial industry placement
Desirable criteria:
• Previous experience of construction, engineering or practical projects
• Interest in sustainable technologies and modern building systems
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Confidence using IT and digital technologies
• Ambition to progress into employment, an apprenticeship or higher education within the construction industry
