We are excited to offer this opportunity for a dedicated, caring and impact driven Student Development Coach to join our team.
About the role:
As a Student Development Coach, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ personal growth, wellbeing, and success both in and beyond the classroom. Working as part of the Student Development Team, you will deliver a structured Personal Development Programme covering areas such as mental health and wellbeing, healthy relationships, employability and life skills, citizenship, digital resilience, and British Values. You will also act as a trusted mentor, providing one to one and group support to help students build confidence, resilience, positive behaviours, and readiness for their next steps.
The role places the student at the centre of everything you do. You will manage a caseload of learners, monitoring attendance, engagement, and progress, and working closely with curriculum teams, safeguarding, careers, and support services. You will actively promote positive behaviour, student voice, enrichment opportunities, and employability, while ensuring safeguarding concerns are identified and reported in line with college policy. Through strong relationships, effective coaching, and accurate record keeping, you will contribute to a safe, inclusive environment where students are supported to thrive and achieve high quality outcomes.
We are looking for someone who is:
• 🎓 Qualified or experienced in youth work, coaching, education, or student support (Level 3 or equivalent experience)
• 🤝 Experienced working with young people, providing mentoring, coaching, or pastoral support in an education or support setting
• 🧠 Knowledgeable in safeguarding, Prevent and British Values, with the confidence to identify and report concerns appropriately
• 💬 A strong communicator and relationship builder, able to engage students, families, and colleagues effectively
• 🌱 Passionate about student development, including confidence, employability, positive behaviour and wellbeing
• 🧩 Organised, resilient and adaptable, using initiative and a calm approach when supporting students with barriers to learning

Criteria
Essential criteria:
• Experience supporting or mentoring young people in an education or support setting
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, with the ability to recognise, report and record concerns appropriately
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with a student centred approach
Desirable criteria:
• A Level 3 qualification (or above) in youth work, education, coaching or a related field
• Experience working in Further Education, sixth form or college settings
